Jerry Buhari was born, 11th July, 1959 at Akwaya, Kachia, Kaduna State, Nigeria, He studied fine art at Ahmadu Bello University and majored in painting in 1982 and was awarded MFA from same institution in 1985. He currently lectures at his Alma Mata and was a visiting lecturer at Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU), Salina Kansas (2007), Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Savannah Georgia (2007) and University of Nigeria Nsukka (2008). He is a member of several professional bodies such as Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Nigerian Society of Education through Art (NSEA), The Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA), Aftershave International Artists Workshop, The Pan-African Circle of Artists (PACA) and Bridgethearts.com. He has held several solo and Group exhibitions notably Gwari forms Nigeria (1984), Floral Notes Lagos, Nigeria.
