Provenance:

Private Collection, Italy; acquired directly from the artist Rosso [Red] (1990) is a work of remarkable rarity in Agostino Bonalumi’s pictorial production. The structure of the work echoes the centrings Bonalumi used from the 1970s onwards, although in this case no wooden form is placed behind the painting. The extroflexion is not supported by a fixed centring; rather, it is created thanks to a subtle interplay of colours and, above all, by using a press. Agostino Bonalumi created very few works (2 or 4 at most) by means of this technique. We are grateful to the Bonalumi archive for its help in cataloguing the present painting.
