When examined in raking light, a small deposit of original retouching is visible on the sailor's shirt sleeve. There is minor margin edge and corner wear, including a tiny tear at the upper right edge and a 1/4-inch crease at the upper right corner. The upper and lower margin edges are gently rippled. On the reverse, the following are written in pencil in unidentified hands: 'V-J Day, Times Square, New York City, August 14, 1945 by Alfred Eisenstaedt'; 'Print made in Time Life photo lab 1995'; '© Time Inc. / All Rights Reserved'; and 'AE/1031.' Framed dimensions: 30 ¼ by 24 ? in. (76.8 by 62.5 cm.)
