Condition:

The work has been examined framed. The canvas is not lined. The edges of the stretcher are covered by black adhesive fabric. Examination under UV light reveals an intermittent line of retouching along the right and a few smaller dots and lines of retouching in places, notably to the extreme right part of the purple and brown shapes in the lower right quadrant, towards the lower right corner, towards the centre of the upper and lower edges and to the orange pigment. There is some paint shrinkage in areas, most predominately to the red, purple and black pigments (as visible in the catalogue illustration). There are lines of stable craquelure throughout the composition (also visible in the catalogue illustration). There are intermittent lines of grey pigment along the extreme edges, possibly original. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
