Private Collection, Budapest, Reinitz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 14 May 1898 until 1902, where he was tutored by Johann Caspar Herterich, Ludwig Herterich, Carl von Marr and Peter von Halm. He visited Budapest, Dresden and Berlin, and his study trips took him to Italy and Albania. Reinitz returned to work in Vienna in 1914, and was an honorary member of the Hagenbund from 1922 to 1935. His works have a Cubist, New Objectivist aesthetic., Reinitz’ depiction of this female nude in the countryside takes up almost the entire foreground. It attracts the viewer’s eye as a result of its size and positioning, but also due to the strong contrast between the colours that the artist chose. Surrounded by nature and sitting by a stretch of water, the figure looks away to the side. She holds on to a shawl, and appears sunk in a moment of undisturbed reverie
