( American, 1894 - 1978 )
Scene from The most beloved American writer
Materials:
charcoal and black crayon
Size Notes:
sheet 19 1/2 x 14 inches
Markings:
Signed 'Norman Rockwell' bottom right
Condition:
The drawing itself appears to be in generally fine overall condition. The sheet appears likely to be toned overall; Framed, matted, with two brown paper tape pieces along two outer edges of sheet on verso, affixed to mat. The verso has some discolored glue residue (which is no longer sticky, tacky) along three of the outer edges; verso also with clusters of tiny brown specks. Sheet has numerous tack holes, and a vertical crease – not as pronounced as a hard fold – that runs through the sheet, approximately 5 5/8 inches from the outer right edge (within the column in the composition) and various assorted handling creases. There is a very minor, unobtrusive (approx. 1/16 inch) loss at outer upper right edge of sheet (which is hidden by the overmat)
