Early silver print, signed in white ink on recto (mounted, unframed) Please note the colours in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings. This incredibly detailed silver print, printed in the early 1950s, is in overall very good condition. Strong contrasts and warm tones, with the photograph trimmed to the image. There is silvering mainly along the edges as expected with prints of this age. Professional treatment has successfully reduced the visual impact of the following: a repaired 2-inch tear extending from the centre of the left margin; two very soft creases along the top edge; deposits of original retouching; a pressure point on the sitter's forehead; a group of hairline cracks towards the lower edge; some faint scuff marks in the upper right quadrant. The reverse of the print has age-appropriately yellowed and sporadic foxing is visible across its surface. The original mount bearing the photographer's signature in pencil in the lower margin accompanies the work.
