Mikael Kristian Hansen (ed.), "Emilius Bærentzen. En portrætkunstner i Guldaldertidens Danmark", 2014, no. 60 and 61, mentioned and reproduced p. 244-247. Peder Withussen Bering took over Rygaard in Hellerup after his father Withus Bering in 1828. He was a skilled farmer who made the soil around Rygård into fertile farmland. In 1829 he became engaged to Emilie Jacobine Klepser, the daughter of a German saddler, who had a flourishing business in Gothersgade in Copenhagen. The family had immigrated to Denmark from Stuttgart. Emilie and Peder got two boys and eight daughters and lived in a happy marriage until Peder Bering cought a severe cold and pneumonia that led to his early death in 1847. With huge diligence and thrift Emilie Bering managed to bring all the children up. Finally, she sold the farm and moved to Copenhagen.
