Carl Frederik Garde "Om lidt er alt så længe siden", ill. p. 75. Carl Frederik Garde writes about the unique relationship between the painter Mogens Zieler, who himself was an accomplished piper, and the peculiar sound of the bagpipe: "While the scale of the bagpipe is "skewed" in relation to the scales that our Western ears are accustomed to, it still manages in its own way to form the basis for a perfect harmony. In the same way we find in Zieler?s idiom something that does not emerge from other realities than from the skewed scale based on the fundamental notes of his own mind. The harmonies that arise are like no other." (Garde p. 78).
